Short Story

I am Kedine Blair, mother of Ne-Sean Blair. March 30, 2021, should have been a date where I should have celebrated my firstborn, Ne-Sean Blair’s 16th birthday, but instead, it will forever be carved in my memory for being the day I almost lost him. A gunman’s bullet travel along his spinal cord and lodge in his neck. The ordeal has left him paralyzed from his neck down and lying on his back at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH). His father and I now need financial assistance to get Ne-Sean to the USA, with the first major cost being US$50,000 (J$7.5 million) for airlift transportation and another US$20,000-US$30,000 (J$3 million-J$4.5 million) for early medical expenses.

Subject: Fundraising Letter for my son

To Whom It May Concern

I am Kedine Blair, mother of Ne-Sean Blair. March 30, 2021, should have been a date where I should have celebrated my firstborn, Ne-Sean Blair’s 16th birthday, but instead, it will forever be carved in my memory for being the day I almost lost him.

Ne-Sean, journeyed to a neighborhood shop with three of his friends when an unknown assailant walked into the establishment placed an order, and then pulled a gun on one of the individuals in the group. All four ran off, with the perpetrator firing shots at them, with one catching Ne-Sean.

This caused the bullet to travel along his spinal cord and lodge in his neck. The ordeal has left him paralyzed from his neck down and lying on his back at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH).

As one could imagine his father and I are heartbroken by this sad news and are more tensed because of lack of financial help for treatments.

I have been advised by doctors at KPH that my son will have to live the rest of his life in that state, however, I am presently in contact with someone in the United States of America (USA), who is seeking assistance from hospitals there for Ne-Sean.

His father and I need financial assistance to get Ne-Sean to the USA, with the first major cost being US$50,000 (J$7.5 million) for airlift transportation and another US$20,000-US$30,000 (J$3 million-J$4.5 million) for early medical expenses.

.Any amount you can give us will greatly contribute to his recovery.

We hope and look forward to your kind help.

Thanking you, in advance.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kedine Blair
