The Set for Success Initiative conceptualized by Dr. Aujaé K Dixon seeks to impact students and institutions in rural Clarendon communities through the provision of free medical checks and school essentials to students and select schools. The back-to-school aspect of this initiative seeks to afford some 300 Clarendon based students free back-to-school medicals and school supplies, as well as provide essential items to select schools. Activities under this initiative are set to commence July 2023 and continue into the school year.
The organizer, Dr. Dixon, is a medical doctor by training and has been actively involved in giving back through annual free medicals over the last six years in communities across Clarendon, St Catherine and St Mary. These free medicals have addressed a real need in these mostly deep-rural, poor communities, saving families millions of dollars cumulatively by offloading this aspect of back to school expenses.
This initiative will seek to expand on the existing back-to-school medicals by providing some essentials to participants–schoolbags, books, stationery and book vouchers. Additionally, this initiative will seek to assist some schools with essential supplies ahead of the September start to the new school year.
