The Evans Basic School and May Pen Church of Christ are cornerstones of our community, providing education, spiritual guidance, and a safe space for growth and fellowship. But right now, these vital institutions are facing serious challenges that threaten their ability to serve our children, families, and neighbors.
The Needs of Evans Basic School
Evans Basic School currently educates 80 children in a space designed to hold just 50. The overcrowded classrooms make learning and teaching more challenging for both students and educators. Additionally, the kitchen and bathroom facilities are in urgent need of repair, which affects the health and comfort of the children and staff.
The school also lacks a playground area where children can safely play and develop essential social and physical skills. We believe that every child deserves a nurturing environment to learn, grow, and thrive. With your help, we can make this a reality.
The Needs of May Pen Church of Christ
The May Pen Church of Christ is deeply integrated with the school, but it lacks its own bathroom facilities and must rely on those of the school. Beyond this, the church’s benches, baptismal pool, office, and roof are in need of urgent upgrades. These repairs will not only enhance the worship experience but also create a safer, more welcoming environment for all.
Shared Needs: Security and Safety
Both the school and church buildings share the same property, which is currently unfenced. This has left them vulnerable to stray animals and break-ins by thieves, posing risks to the safety of the children and congregants as well as the security of the property.
