Support our Community Work at the Unity Infant & Primary School in Trelawny, Jamaica

Greetings,

My name is Elizabeth Goffe & I am the founder of TrueSelf Centre, a community centre located in Kingston, Jamaica. Our centre has been a community hub primarily focused on wellness offerings for a little more than a decade.

In July 2026, we successfully ran a 3-week sponsored summer program at the Unity Infant & Primary School in Bunker’s Hill Trelawny, with the intention of strengthening literacy skills across all grade levels. Our program was a collaborative project facilitated both by guest teachers and Unity teachers. We incorporated many positive and engaging activities for the children, including music, games, arts and crafts, writing, storytelling, yoga, mindfulness, skateboarding, stilt-walking, and more. It is our intention to continue to offer support to this school, so that we can help to make long-lasting improvements for the entire community – students, teachers, parents and school staff alike.

We were able to fund this program in thanks to community donations. These donations allowed us to cover:

– Compensation for educators and facilitators leading the summer sessions.
– Compensation for canteen staff and janitor handling meals and keeping the space clean.
– Transportation for educators and facilitators travelling from other parishes.
– Accommodations for educators and facilitators traveling from other parishes.
– Meals for all students, teachers, facilitators and staff.
– Printed materials & school supplies for the program.
– Books, toys, games for the children.

Our intention is to continue to offer similar programs focused on literacy, numeracy, creative arts and more. We ask for your continued support in making these programs possible. No amount is too small. We give thanks for all that you are able to offer. Blessings.
