In the wake of Hurricane Melissa’s destructive sweep across Western Jamaica in October 2025, countless families across the region were left reeling, having lost their homes, basic clothing, secure shelter, and daily essentials in a matter of hours. As the region slowly rebuilds from the devastation, the fast-approaching start of the new academic year in September 2026 presents a daunting financial hurdle for parents still struggling to cover life’s most fundamental needs. This fundraiser was created to bridge that gap and bring hope to the vulnerable children of Western Westmoreland and Hanover. By uniting to supply critical back-to-school items—from textbooks and stationery to uniforms and essential gear—we can relieve a massive burden from these resilient families, ensuring that trauma does not derail these young students’ futures and that every child in the west can step back into the classroom this September empowered, prepared, and ready to learn.
