Description

This campaign is designed to raise funds to assist farmers to monitor their farms remotely using cloud Data transmission over long distance, to help fight the rampant criminal activities by preadial larcenists (farm thieves) which has seen local farmers losing all their months of hard work in one night.

Praedial larceny is the most extensive among all crimes committed in the subregion in terms of the number of persons and families affected. 98% of all producers surveyed have experienced loss of produce from theft.

  • Agriculture minister Charles Jr. said it is estimated that Jamaican farmers suffer losses of more than $5 billion per annum due to praedial larceny. โ€œIn fact, it hampers the growth and expansion of local production and hampers productivity in the agricultural and fisheries sector generally,โ€ Minister Charles Jr. said.23 Jan 2022
