First Dance Studios is not just a performing arts school, it’s a movement. For over 11 years, we’ve been building confident, creative, and resilient young people in Montego Bay and across Western Jamaica.
Each week, we serve over 200 students from all walks of life, and we remain deeply committed to inclusion. More than 40% of our students rely on scholarships or subsidized tuition, because we believe every child deserves the opportunity to shine, regardless of financial means.
WHY IT MATTERS? We’ve grown into:
-
A home to over 200 students committed to personal and artistic excellence
-
A hub for international exchange, welcoming instructors from the UK, Canada, and the USA
-
A training ground for Jamaica’s medal-winning performers on the world stage
-
A community where creativity builds resilience, empathy, and pride
We’ve already proven what’s possible — now we must grow to meet the moment.
Our Mission Is Big and So Are Our Dreams
This year alone, we
- Produced a full-scale stage production that drew over 400 patrons
- Were 1st place club in the Jamaica classics gymnastics championship & won over 22 medals and a team trophy for our country at the Yamilet Pena Classic in Punta Cana.
-
Prepared to represent Jamaica at the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA), giving students a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity on a global platform.
-
Continued to run high-quality, inclusive programs that uplift children from all backgrounds
But these milestones require significant resources, and to sustain this level of impact, we need support.
Why We’re Launching the “Keep the Arts Alive” Campaign
We are at a Cross road & a critical point of expansion.
We’ve stretched every resource to deliver the quality our students deserve but to continue at this level, and reach even more children, we must rally a community that believes in the power of the arts.
The “Keep the Arts Alive” campaign aims to raise US$25,000 to:
-
Sustain our scholarship and outreach programs
-
Cover production and competition costs
-
Invest in resources, training, and creative tools
“With First Dance, I get help to nurture a child that is really confident, happy, healthy, and whole.” – Melinda Casey
