Nyla is a smart, fun-loving, caring, sweet soul, and future gymnast. She was only 3 years old when diagnosed with Stage 4 Wilms Tumor (a form of cancer that affects children between the ages of 2 to 5 years old). The cancer tumor had taken over her entire left kidney with cells of cancer in her lungs. She did surgery to remove the left kidney leaving her with only one to function.

In June 2021, Nyla’s cancer advanced more aggressively after months of chemotherapy, and the tiny cells grew into larger lesions which have amassed her right lung causing limited oxygen flow, as only one lung is functioning at full capacity.

Her treatments are now much harsher chemotherapy drugs and a planned surgery to get rid of the cancer cells.

As a single mother with barely any family living in Jamaica, juggling the care of my daughter with work and other obligations has been extremely challenging, to say the least. The financial, physical, and emotional strain is beyond what I can put into words.
