Hi everyone, my name is Sherika Williams, and I’m reaching out in a time of true desperation. I never imagined I’d be in this situation, but my home is literally falling apart, and I have nowhere else to turn.

I’m a young, hardworking woman who purchased my first home in January 2023. I made this decision not just for financial stability, but to escape a toxic family environment and build a better future for myself. I sacrificed everything to make it happen—saving every penny for the down payment and closing costs. By the time I got the keys, I had completely depleted my savings and even had to borrow money just to cover some initial expenses. I worked hard to repay that debt, and since then, I’ve been living as frugally as possible, only buying what I absolutely need.

Then, disaster struck. Recently, I noticed a crack forming in my roof. At first, it was small, but it has grown rapidly, and now debris from the roof and walls is falling onto my floor. This morning, I checked on the damage, and when I stepped near the cracked section, it felt like I might fall straight through. I am terrified that my roof could collapse at any moment, and I don’t have the funds to fix it.

I don’t have family to turn to for help, and I can’t afford to take on additional debt. My mortgage, bills, and taxes already take up most of my income. I am trying my best to hold everything together, but I can’t do this alone.
