Short Story

Flourish Mentorship Program, which is a recognized charitable organization registered under the Charities Act of Jamaica (2013), is giving forty-eight 13–15-year-old boys and girls who live in Red Hills, St. Andrew, Jamaica, something fun and productive to do this summer.

Our expenses will include providing refreshments, buying bathroom supplies, offering a stipend to camp staff, giving a donation to the school for the use of their facilities, getting sporting equipment, obtaining miscellaneous items to be used as incentives for good behaviour or as prizes for challenges, giving them back to school supplies and personal hygiene products and issuing medals and awards for the closing ceremony.

We are hoping to raise a total of USD$8,000 to comfortably cover all our expenses and are appealing to you to help us by making a donation.

Thank you.

Flourish Mentorship Program, which is a recognized charitable organization registered under the Charities Act of Jamaica (2013), is giving forty-eight 13–15-year-old boys and girls who live in Red Hills, St. Andrew, Jamaica, something fun and productive to do this summer.

Most of them attend schools outside the community. Coupled with back-to-school expenses, their parents are unable to afford the cost of sending them to summer school or enrolling them in other summer programs. Because we know this will cause many of them will remain idle for the long holiday period, as a community-based, teen-focused organization, we are stepping in to provide something meaningful for them to do in July.

Our program, called “Hi Skoolaz Summa Settinz”, is a day camp which will not only enable these 13-15 year-olds to develop their skills in sports, performing arts and public speaking, but they will also participate in motivational, informational and career talks to help steer them in the right direction.

Between now and June 30, 2022, our aim is to raise as much money and procure as much resources as we can to effectively execute the program which will run for 5 days each week for 4 weeks from July 4 – 29, 2022.

Thank you.
