Story

Hello everyone!
My name is Natalie, and I am a graduate student studying in the US Virgin Islands. When I am not in class, I volunteer my time at the local humane society, helping care for cats, kittens, and puppies. I carry a deep passion for animal advocacy and health, and my ultimate dream is to attend veterinary school so I can dedicate my life to healing animals just like Ziggy.
I was volunteering at the shelter when someone brought this sweet boy in as a stray.

Ziggy was found near a local bank, shivering and in agonizing pain. A trip to the veterinarian revealed a heartbreaking diagnosis: someone or something had severely mistreated this innocent baby, leaving him with a broken tail and a fractured femoral head (the ball of his left hip joint). Sadly, due to a severe, contagious illness currently circulating on the island, the shelter was unable to safely house a vulnerable, injured kitten. With nowhere else for him to go, Ziggy’s only other option was euthanasia. I couldn’t stand by and let a life full of so much potential be cut short, so I chose to open my heart and step up to care for him myself.
