Hi everyone I am Beresford Dixon, affectionately known as “Bwoizy.” I am a resident of Kintyre who has been living with an eye condition called cataract for over 13 years, which has resulted in me being visually impaired. The condition affected both of my eyes but the cataract is completely drained from my left eye for years now, which means that it is now ready for surgery. So I am pleading to the public to please help me in carrying out this operation because I fear that it might worsen and return to its original state. This is a hereditary condition that affected several members of my family in the past but they have all corrected this problem via surgery. I am the only sibling who is still suffering from the condition and what makes it even more stressful on me is that I live alone and suffer from several other underlying conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure.

This, therefore, requires me to eat a healthy meal with proper dieting but I am also unable to do so because I prepare my own meals and I’m unable to see what I’m preparing so sometimes it’s not done properly. Also, I cannot afford what the doctors recommend for me to eat so most times, I have to resort to the ground produce I grow within my yard space. As a result of bad dieting and the lack of funds, this has hindered the decision for me to get the surgery done in the past as the doctors said my sugar is too high. I was a chef for over 10 years and my main customers were workers from the Kingston Public Hospital but since I’ve lost my sight, it makes it difficult for me to work or fend for myself.
