Jamaica Association of Vintage Artistes and Affiliates JAVAA is a non profit organization formed in 2003 with over 150 members, whose mandate is the preservation of Jamaica’s musical heritage, through the protection of the professional and social well-being of our vintage artists and musicians, adherence to high creative standards and support of efforts, towards ensuring national understanding of the value and importance of Jamaica’s Reggae Music Industry. JAVAA provides life insurance for its members and aid with any day to day sustenance  needs of its members of the music fraternity.  One very important concept to JAVAA which is most dear to the members’ heart is the establishment of a “Hall/Walk of Fame”.

JAVAA started with members paying a dues of $10,000 per year but this was not enough to keep the organization afloat, not with the rent each month and other amenities costs.  We organized a fundraising show every Friday which was called ‘JAVA’s Friday Night Fish Fry’, this was before the additional A was added due to a name conflict.  This was very successful, a show where patrons got to mix with the producers, musicians and singers and got to be a part of the lives of some of the creatures of the world’s greatest genres “Reggae”. One could dine while enjoying the performances of John Holts, Leroy Sibbles, Bob Andy, Ken Boothe to name a few.

JAVAA started the Hall/Walk of Fame with the induction of twelve (12) performers/music related entities in 2008. Another twenty (20) were inducted in 2009 and 2010 respectively making it thirty-two (32) recipients so far. We still host events to ensure the maintenance of our processes to our members and we wish to continue to increase this offer to other musicians and performers in the industry, with this mandate we ask for your contribution to this fundraiser to ensure this is possible.  We thank you for your support.
