On September 17, while walking near Half-Way Tree in Kingston, a man passing by suddenly assaulted her by grabbing her inappropriately and then continued on as if nothing had happened. Shawna was dressed modestly in jeans and a blouse, disproving the notion that she was targeted due to her attire.

On October 19, while taking her daughter to a playdate, the coaster bus they were on suddenly swerved sharply to the left. Shawna was nearly thrown out of the bus and into oncoming traffic. If not for the quick actions of two fellow passengers who pulled her back, this incident could have had tragic consequences, right in front of her young daughter.

Then, on October 28, she was involved in a minor accident while in a taxi on her way to pick up her daughter from school. Although the accident was not severe, it left Shawna with a persistent headache.

Additionally, whenever it rains, Shawna and her daughter are forced to walk along the road, where they are often splashed by passing vehicles, adding to the daily challenges they face.
