A Single Mother’s Fight to Beat Cancer

Hi there, thank you for visiting this campaign. My name is Shanteh and I am raising funds to help my older cousin Stacey Matthews pay for her cancer treatment. Stacey means a lot to our family as she always goes out of her way to be kind and make the best of any situation. But this time she is leaning on us and our community to not fight this battle alone.

In October 2025, severe, unrelenting abdominal pain turned Stacey’s world upside down. By December 2025, she underwent emergency surgery at Kingston Public Hospital where a devastating diagnosis was revealed: Stage 4 Colon Cancer.

She immediately thought of her son. Every mother’s greatest wish is simple: to watch her child grow up, to hold their hand through life’s milestones, and to provide safety and warmth. Right now, Stacey Matthews is fighting with every ounce of strength she has to make sure she stays here for her child.

For the past nine months, Stacey has endured a grueling physical and emotional battle. As a single mother carrying this burden alone, the pain has been overwhelming—yet her faith and love for her child have never wavered.

Now, her doctors have prescribed essential chemotherapy to continue her fight. But the treatment costs JMD $200,000.00 (~$1,300 USD or $1,800 CAD) every three weeks, alongside mounting medical tests, hospital visits, and medications. While she undergoes these aggressive treatments over the next 8 to 10 months, severe side effects and recovery will make it impossible for her to work consistently and cover basic everyday living needs for her family.
