My Story:

Hello,

My name is Johnelle, and I am writing this out of pure desperation for my family.

Right now, my mother, my two youngest siblings (ages 6 and 7), and I are living in a one-bedroom space where the conditions have become completely unlivable and hazardous. The roof leaks terribly every single time it rains, leaving everything damp and flooded, and the floor is completely deteriorating and unsafe to even walk on.

It is heartbreaking and exhausting to watch a 6 and 7-year-old have to live in a room that is damp, unsafe, and falling apart around them. No child should grow up in these conditions, and as an older sister, it is devastating to feel stuck in a place that threatens my family’s health and safety every single day. We urgently need to get out of this situation, whether that means completely replacing the roof and floor structure immediately or finding the funds to relocate to a safe, dry, and secure room.

Why I Need Your Help to Move Forward:

I want nothing more than to build a better life, break this cycle, and take care of my mother and siblings. To do that, I am trying my hardest to further my education, gain my qualifications, and build a real career.

But the truth is, it is nearly impossible to focus on studying, bettering myself, or building a future when my present reality is a daily struggle just to keep my family dry and safe. Living in a constant state of stress in a hazardous room takes everything out of you.
