My name is Tre Quon Armstrong. I am 17 years old, living in Jamaica, and currently studying Network Administration. I am completely focused on building a career in tech, but right now I’ve hit a wall because I don’t have the hardware to actually do the work.

Network engineering is highly practical. It requires running multiple virtual machines and simulating complex networks all at the same time. A standard retail laptop will literally crash under that kind of pressure. I need a high-performance machine that can handle heavy engineering software, which costs roughly $1,400 USD—amounting to over **$221,000+ JMD**.

An investment of this size is out of reach for my family right now. Because I am 17, employment laws here in Jamaica don’t allow me to get a job to fund this myself. To make things harder, I don’t own a laptop or a desktop PC at all. We are given heavy technical labs to finish at home after school hours, and without a computer, I am completely locked out of doing my assignments.
I’m not starting from scratch, and I’ve already put in the effort to prove I take this seriously. I hold a Cisco IT Essentials certificate, City & Guilds Level 3 qualifications (a Distinction in English and a Merit in Math), and 4 CSEC subjects. The drive and the skills are there—I am just missing the main tool required to do the job.
