Hello, my name is Seon Booker and I’m from Malvern, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica.

A few days ago, Hurricane Melissa changed my entire life. The storm took away my home, my comfort, and my peace of mind. I now sleep under a tent, trying to find small ways to rebuild what I’ve lost. I have a 7 month old baby boy and before the hurricane, I was living with my girl. When the storm hit, everything fell apart, there’s no water no light and barely anything to eat. I had to send my baby and his mother to Ocho Rios to stay with a friend, just so I could know they’re safe. It’s been three days now, and every day feels like a battle to survive.

Truthfully, I have pride and I never wanted to come online to ask for help. I know that other parishes and families are going through the same thing or maybe worst and that breaks my heart too. But right now, I am at a point where I don’t know what else to do. I just want to build back my home and give my family a safe place again.

My goal is to raise $10,000–$15,000 USD to rebuild. Every single dollar, every bit of help, no matter how small, means the world to me. It brings me one step closer to giving my baby a roof over his head again.

If you’re reading this, please, hear my cry. Your kindness could help turn my pain into hope. Thank you for taking the time to listen, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for any help you can give.

With gratitude and hope,

— Seon Booker
