Hi everyone, I am Ackeef Nugent, a 13 year old Youth Advisor residing in the volatile community of Coburn Gardens in Kingston. I have been using my educational status along with my passion to rid this community of violence by teaching the youths how to read, write and prepare for their external examinations in order to have a better future. However, I am in need of your URGENT help to make this programme more successful.

Due to the high level of violence I’ve experienced, I decided to started this initiative since 2017, where I teach students how to read, write and express themselves while improving their communication skills. Being a student myself at Excelsior High school, I have to prioritize my time, effort and even save a part of my lunch money to purchase items to keep the programme going. It is very rough sometimes as the funds isn’t enough to purchase all the items and supplies needed to effectively get through the tasks at hand. Many of the youngsters parents are not financially stable so I sometimes I also have to walk around and seek sponsorship from our community shops to help out and this too sometimes, poses a challenge.

Therefore, I am using this platform to kindly seek the assistance of the public to help by donating any amount they can to improve on the resources needed to make this programme more successful. If you don’t have the funds to donate and has some school supplies you would like to give, we would also greatly appreciate that. Futuristically, I would also love to expand on the space or acquire a new area to host these students in a more comfortable environment that’s very conducive to effective learning.
